The Respectful Relationships program (R+R) has been delivered in a number of school districts in British Columbia since 2003. During the 2006-07 school year, students in Port Alberni, Prince George, The Boundary, and Kamloops school districts received the R+R workshops. We continue to encourage communities and their school districts to find ways to offer the R+R program to their students, and to continue to lobby government so that all youth have the opportunity to gain the skills to have safe, healthy and respectful relationships, broaden their capacity to fulfill their role as world citizens and to foster a world where the values of respect and non-violence are a way of life.
The Port Alberni ADSS Respectful Relationships Youth team held its year end dinner celebration, at the Clam Bucket. Thank you to Saltspring Women Opposed to Violence and Abuse (SWOVA) for supporting our team--and for picking up our tab! Also, big thanks to Andrea from the Clam Bucket for providing great service, and for putting up with all of our giggles! The team is hoping to start up again in September.
